A guided look
Take the tour
Everything a visual blog needs, picture by picture.
Follow one reader through PicaLook, from the first picture they see to the moment they subscribe. Every stop on the way is something a writer here gets for their blog, and none of it asks the reader for an account, a pop-up click or a payment.
Stop one: the picture at the top
A link brings someone in, and the first thing they meet is a photograph. On PicaLook the cover runs edge to edge across the page, and the headline sits underneath it on a soft white card, the way a caption sits under a print.
Edge-to-edge covers
One cover, many frames: it leads the post, then reappears on the writer’s profile, in topic feeds and in the “more from” tiles.
Covers made of words
A story without a photo is dressed in a pastel poster, its title set large in rounded letters, so it never looks half-made in the grid.
Photos between paragraphs
Drop images into the body of a post and caption them. They live on PicaLook’s own server and load softly as the reader scrolls.
Stop two: one story leads to another
Most visitors never see a front page. They arrive in the middle of something, and PicaLook keeps a next picture in view wherever they are.
Contents for long reads
Longer posts carry a table of contents, so a reader can skip ahead to the recipe, the route or the chapter they came for.
Tiles from the same writer
When a post ends, square photo tiles of the writer’s other stories are waiting underneath.
Shared topic pages
Topic tags gather stories on one subject from every writer onto a single page, side by side.
Stop three: the writer behind the photos
Curious readers tap the writer’s name and land on /your-handle/. It is laid out like a contact sheet of your best frames, not a list of dates.
A face and a few lines
A round portrait, a short bio about you and your subjects, and, if you like, a link out to your own website.
Your “Start here” note
A welcome you write yourself, steering newcomers to the posts and places you would show a friend first.
Categories as rings
Your categories sit at the top as round rings filled with photos, ready to be tapped one after another.
Stop four: staying in the picture
A feed for every blog
Subscribe to one writer at /handle/feed.xml or to everyone at /feed.xml, using any feed reader you already like.
Replies signed with a name
A reader leaves a name and a thought; there is no sign-in and no email field. Moderators look over each guest comment before it goes live.
Behind the lens
- The server sends finished HTML and CSS, so stories open fast even when the signal is weak.
- From a wide monitor to a small phone, the layout reshapes itself and keeps buttons big enough for a thumb.
- Accented scripts, Vietnamese included, render properly in headlines and in body text.
- A link in a post is a plain link, free to point at your own website or at the sources you used.
- Readers are not followed around: there are no ads, no analytics and no tracking scripts.
Want a frame of your own?
Anyone can read, with nothing to register. Blogs, on the other hand, are handed out by invitation; you will not find a sign-up form anywhere on the site. If you have stories worth a closer look, describe them to us on the contact page under “I’d love to write here”.
